Let
me write a word or two about email forwards, a process that is used to often
without thought. Now there are many
different kinds of forwards and I’ll address a few here…
These
are very similar to chain letters. They
usually say that something will happen if you forward this email to X number of
people. These do NOT work.
I can accept getting these emails a few times as each person finds this
out for themselves. But I am always disappointed when I get the same type of
emails again and again from the same people.
Please, if it didn’t work the first time, why would it work the next??
Although I appreciate you wanting me to be able to see the cute little
dog run across my screen, I know it won’t happen.
Yes, I admit I did try it once…but only once.
A side note…. those email trackers don’t work either.
Your check from AOL is NOT coming. Sorry.
No.
I’m not. If I were, I’d
get a phone call from you instead of a forwarded message someone else wrote that
you decided to send to me as well as your other 20 ‘best friends’.
If you want me to know that I’m special to you, just tell me…in your
own words. I promise you, no matter
how ineloquent your words may be, they will be so much better then someone
else’s! They are your own and
that will actually mean something. But
these don’t.
These
emails are usually disguised as one of the two above. But whatever form they take they are nothing but annoying.
For those who are concerned, nothing bad will happen if you break the
chain. I’ve done it myself.
The rash was just a coincidence. J
If
your not convinced, then get a copy of an ‘Anti-chain letter’. I wrote one here if you want an example.
There
are many others, but I’ve covered the most annoying I think.
Now it’s not that I don’t like forwards, it’s just that I don’t
like getting JUST forwards from people. The
occasional joke or funny cartoon sent my way is fine.
But I didn’t give you my email address to have you bombard my mailbox
with forwards. I gave it to you to
hear from YOU. So think of that the
next time you go to click that forward button k?
Cheers,
D
