December 2003
I,ve been kind of remiss in keeping this part of Dave’s WEB site up to date-Sorry, I’ll try to do better.
November was the culmination of many months of planning by Georgia and myself for our 50th Anniversary. Georgia did herself proud in getting everything together like sending out invitations to our friends and relatives. She struggled with the decision of where to hold the celebration. So many decisions had to be made like seating, the table settings themselves and what choice of meals to offer our guests. My responsibilities was kind of self inflicted as I wanted something more to offer our guests than merely coming so many miles then just sitting down and eating a meal together. So I got the idea to surprise not only the guests but also Georgia. I began by renting the Spurs Mascot, the Coyote for our Gala. As it turned out he was the life of the party as everyone enjoyed his antics. I asked Fred Holscher and Tom Murphy to put on a ! skit about Willy Nelson. Fred was Willy and that turned out well. Also, I got Cary Clack, the newspaper columnist to say a few words. His next column was all about our bash as only he could humorize it. I invited Bishop Tom Flanagan and he gracefully accepted. The mariachi’s we hired did a fair job of showing that part of San Antonio to our out of towners. We now have a bushel of pictures that we have to sort out to put in a special album, but that’s Georgia’s department. We had a Mass at the beginning of all this where it was concelebrated by three of our friends that are priests. Georgia was completely surprised by all this and her motor began running and wouldn’t quit when she got on the dance floor. I thought she was going to follow the DJ out the door when he went home. In retrospect, I think everyone had a good time and were glad they came. I hope so Bud

We got him
"I'm Saddam Hussein " the man with the scruffy beard said in English when U.S. troops found him in a dirt hole. "I'm the president of Iraq and I'm willing to negotiate."
