Some things you may never have known about the great man...
Sixty year old David was born in Manchester in August 1941.  David has strong Franco-American roots, but there's also Armenian connections in his family.  David married cabaret singer Lorne Lesley thirty years ago.  They have two grown up children, Robert and Katriona.  Now residing in leafy Cheshire, David confesses he actually manages to spend little time at home or his shop, though when he's there he endulges in his other passion - driving and cars.

Despite being the hottest property on the box, David still owns an antique shop in Cheshire.  He has a level-headed approach to fame: "I don't think there's any room for complacency.  In showbiz, you can be the flavour of the month, and next month, you're nobody."  Rumours regarding tax evasion have dogged his meteoric rise to fame.

David would love to be a castaway on Las Ayalas beach on Mexico's Pacific coast.  The beach was the setting of the Dudley Moore film, 'Ten.'  He is a big aficionado of classic movies, such as 'It's A Wonderful Life,' and has fond recollections of comedians such as Morecambe and Wise.  When it comes to TV, David's pet hate is soap operas.  He claims he's too busy to follow them.

The best Christmas present that David has ever received was a little bell based on the American Liberty Bell, given to him by his late grandmother.  It was cast in the 1870's and holds great sentimental value.  David cites a pair of purple suede winkle picker shoes as the worst gift he's ever received.
