This page provides access to my material related to the East Asian board game of go.

• Gratis is a proposed system for rating go players within the Australian Go Association:
  • Documentation:
    • A requests list, explaining the ways in which I need the assistance of the go-playing community.
    • A user manual for the software.
    • The mathematical basis for those wishing to decide if my approach is valid.
    • An issues list: all the things I could think of that someone evaluating the scheme might need to know.
    • My aliases file, that relates the name used in the tournament record to the player's real name. Amongst other functions it tells the program which player names refer to same person.
    • An attendance record, which should prove useful to those helping me fix the aliases file.
    • A list of the tournaments for which I have records, if you have records for any others please send them to me.
    • More complete player records.
  • Results: These are very preliminary, so please don't get upset when they change.
    • A description of the the format of the output files.
    • Dan-ranked players who are still active in the AGA, or at least we still hope will come back:
      • Ordered by surname.

  • BakaBan is a virtual go board for peculiar board geometries, particularly those that are difficult to implement in wood. It's available from the British Go Association web page, or just mail me at [email protected] (delete the spamproofing).
  • SGFtoHTML turns Smart Go Format (.SGF) files into HTML game records. Hopefully it will be available from somewhere soon, or just mail me at [email protected] (delete the spamproofing).
