Gotta Change My Way of Thinking

[VERSE 1]
I could tell that he was different, as he ordered up a beer
He had a certain glow about him that I’d never seen in here
In a barroom full of heartache, he sure looked out of place
So I said stranger, what’s the reason, for that smile on your face
[VERSE 2]
He said, I’d be glad to tell you, and I’d like the company
You see a smile don’t cost a thing, and there ain’t much in life that’s free
I’ve learned that I can’t waste no time, drowning in life’s sorrow
Cause a bad yesterday don’t have to mean a bad tomorrow
        [CHORUS]

And I said - hey bartender, give me what he’s drinking

Something strong that’ll change my thinking

My glass is half empty, his is half full

He’s seeing steak and I’m just shootin’ the bull

He’s flying high, and I’m sitting here sinking

Maybe it’s time I changed my way of thinking

[VERSE 3]
He said, friend I gotta tell you, you won’t find it in a drink
You gotta feel it in your heart, gotta change the way you think
There's a few ways to win, and a million ways to lose
You gotta learn to see rainbows where others just see the blues
[VERSE 4]
You might think you got it rough, but take some time to look around
You can always find another whose a little further down
You can search this world for happiness, but it’s awful hard to find
Until you realize the journey’s only in your mind
        [CHORUS]

And I said - hey bartender, maybe I'll quit drinking

Lord knows, it might change my thinking

My glass is half empty, his is half full

He’s seeing steak and I’m just shootin’ the bull

He’s flying high, and I’m sitting here sinking

Maybe it’s time I changed my way of thinking

[VERSE 5]
After he was gone, and I’d heard em’ say last call
I was thinking to myself that stranger probably has it all
Fancy house, fancy cars, some kind of wealthy man
And I walked out of that bar and saw him….picking up a can
        [CHORUS]

And I said - hey bartender, gonna stop my drinking

See if that'll help me change my thinking

My glass is half empty, his is half full

He’s seeing steak and I’m just shootin’ the bull

He’s flying high, and I’m sitting here sinking

Maybe it’s time I changed my way of thinking
