Letting Go of a Dream

[VERSE] 1
I’ve had my share of laughter, and
I’ve been brought to tears
By the dream I’ve been holding
onto, for so many years
For more than half of my lifetime,
I’ve watched that dream grow
And now the day has finally come,
when it’s time to let go
[VERSE 2]
My wife told me this morning,
honey, it’ll be alright
But my mind keeps drifting back,
to that cold December night
When I stood there beside her,
together we had a dream
And after 25 precious years, man I
wouldn’t change a thing
[CHORUS]
Don’t you
know, that’s just how dreams are meant to be
You can
only hold on for so long, then you have to set them free
If you’ve
ever held something, so close to your heart
The surely
you know what I mean
Sometimes
it can be so hard, letting go of a dream
[VERSE 3]
We drove down to the church, I’d
been to all my life
It’s where my Mom and Dad went,
and where I wed my wife
As we slowly walked down the
aisle, I saw the preacher smile at me
And our baby girl slipped her hand
from mine, as I let go of Daddy’s dream
[CHORUS]
Don’t you
know, that’s just how dreams are meant to be
You can
only hold on for so long, then you have to set them free
If you’ve
ever held something, so close to your heart
The surely
you know what I mean
Sometimes
it can be so hard, letting go of a dream
