Hi, my name is David Pastern. I'm 35 years old, single and currently reside in Sydney, Australia.
Photography is one of my many hobbies, and it's something that I find that I can lose myself totally in.
I am not a professional photographer, merely an advanced amateur who enjoys the challenge of photographing
different genres such as wildlife, motor sport and landscapes. I have to admit to not really liking wedding
or people photography - it just doesn't interest me.
I have travelled relatively extensively along the eastern coast of Australia during the past 20 years,
but other than that I have not really explored the vast beauty of the Australian Continent. I have
never been overseas either.
I enjoy using 35mm cameras and film, but have also experimented with medium format - 6 x 4.5 and 6 x 6.
I prefer analogue to digital, and slide film to print film (much better contrast and colour saturation I find).
My current gear is:
Canon EOS1n (main body)
PowerBooster to suit EOS1n body
Canon EOS 630 (backup body)
Canon 70-200mm f2.8 L series zoom lense
Canon 300mm f4 IS L series telephoto lense
Canon 20-35mm f2.8 L series wide angle zoom lense
Canon 50mm f1.8 Mark II standard lense
Canon 35-70 f3.5-4.5 Mark III zoom (non USM)
Canon 1.4x teleconvertor for use with the L series lenses
Canon 430ez flash unit
Canon remote control cable (60T3)
Sekonic L308B II flashmate handheld metering unit
Manfrotto tripod
Manfrotto monopod
LowePro nature trekker camera bag
A bunch of hoya and cokin filters

As you can guess, i'm a Canon fan. I've been using Canon cameras since 1989 and feel that they're
the best in many areas - autofocus (speed & accuracy), ergonomics, features etc...and yes i've had the
chance to "play" with Nikon and Minolta gear - I honestly prefer the Canon way of doing things. In the
end though, it's the photographer, and not the camera gear that makes the shot. Some of my favourite
shots are with my very first 35mm camera - a Russian Zenit 12xp (with Helios 52mm f2 standard lense).
I hope you enjoy my photographic galleries, comments and feedback are appreciated.
Best wishes,
Dave W Pastern
