| Christmas Eve
1999 we moved house from Jersey City, NJ to the coffee mecca of the US...
that's right... Seattle. Imagine, if you will, me at Newark (EWR) Int'l
Airport, 5:30a.m., three HUGE coffin-size suitcases, Frey (I bought a
carrier trolley for his "house"), the girls, my stewardess case,
and my backpack... checking in... making the move... by myself. And some
people said they wanted to see me stand on my own... this is just what
I've been doing since I was 17, thank you very much... :) Why Seattle when I've never acquired a taste for the bean and prefer my caffeine cold and carbonated? Well... contrary to popular belief (yes, popular MYTH) I came here because I fell in love with the city in 1999 while here on business. The myth was shattered 3 months after I arrived and (I hope) my still being here is proof that it wasn't for anything more than a love for the area (NOT the person who happened to occasionally reside here)... My first house was a fiasco... never live right next to your landlord... especially if he and his kids are psychotic! I moved into an apartment as soon as my lease expired... |

Fourteen months
after I arrived I met Dave... what can I say? I love the Pacific Northwest! (Even
after the quakes...) He moved into my tiny one bedroom apartment when he
began working with NAVSEA and was "stationed" in Everett before moving to
Bremerton. The apartments and houses in Bremerton were... well... not quite
our style... so we moved to Port Orchard (a few miles south of Bremerton).
That's where I found our house... At time it was still being built and the
inside was 2x4s, but a dragged Dave and Cassie (who was visiting us) to see
it. Dave and I put a contract on it the following week and it became ours. We love our neighborhood, and we have a great view of the Cascades from the living room window. I don't really relish the 5-hour (round trip) commute to and from work, but the ferries afford me one hour of uninterrupted work each way! |
