wt1882sal1 Joseph ALLEY supplied by Kay PROSSER , having been extracted by PINNEGAR and son, Solicitors, Westbury, verified by Thomas BRODERICK, district Registrar. The last will and testament of Mr Joseph ALLEY of Hawkeridge in the parish of Westbury in the County of Wiltshire Sawyer. I bequeath all the property of every description of which I may die possessed unto John MOODY of the Royal Oak Inn Hawkeridge aforesaid Innkeeper in trust and I direct the said John MOODY within one month after my decease to sell by public auction the cottage and premises in Hawkeridge aforesaid in my occupation together with all my household furniture and effects of every description and to distribute the proceeds of such sale or sales together with all other monies of which I shall die possessed in manner following. Firstly to discharge all my just debts and funeral and testamentary espences. Secondly to pay all the costs and charges of the sale or sales of my property. Thirdly to pay unto my grandchildren George BUTCHER, Alfred BUTCHER, and William BUTCHER at present residing in Cardiff and El;izabeth BUTCHER at present residing at the Ashley Down Orphanage Bristol the four children of my deceased daughter (Susan ALLEY) the wife of the late Benjamin BUTCHER of Trowbridge , Painter, the sum of 5 pounds each. And after payment of my said debts funeral and other expences costs of the sale or sales by auction and the legacies to my grandchildren then I direct the said John MOODY to pay all the remainder of the monies in his hands to my son Reuben ALLEY of Hawkeridge aforesaid, labourer. I appoint the said John MOODY whole and sole executor of this my will and lastly I revoke all former wills and acknowledge this to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this eighth day of March one thousand eight hundred and eighty two. Joseph ALLEY signed and acknowledged by the above named testator and for his last will and testament in our presence and we in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witness's : Sarah MOODY, Royal Oak Inn, Hawkeridge, Westbury, Wlts. (The MOODYs were related to the family) Richard Archibald FARQUHARSON, North Bradley, Wilts. Proved at Salisbury the 22 July 1882 by the oath of John Stephen (in the will written John) MOODY the sole executor to whom administration was granted. The testator Joseph ALLEY was late of Hawkeridge in the parish of Westbury in the county of Wilts, Sawyer, and died on the 21st day of June, 1882 at Hawkeridge aforesaid.
