Oct. 1588 AS 1 1 Bk 7 F 130 Arch Sarum Wilts RO, Trowbridge, Tr by David Church July, 1588, William BUTCHER, of Bradford, Blacksmythe, being sick of body but of perfect memory (lauded be god) do make my last will and testament in manner and form following : First I confess my faith to be according to the Christian and Appostolicall creede so that I trust to be saved by the mercie of my only saviour Jesus Christ in his precious bloude shedde for the redemption of his ------. And I utterly renounce all other means and ther----. I commend my sole and ----- into thy holy hands for thou hast redeemed me o god of truth and in certen and sheure hope of the resurrection my will is that my body be buried according to the lawe. As touching my worldly goods I give them in this order. First I give and bequeath to Elizabeth my daughter a ioyne bord with a frame, a ioyne bedsteede with the bedd and all that belongeth thereunto, my byggest pan (?) And the greatest crocke, half a dosen of pewter, two cauldrons, a thicke posnett, a chasting dish, a spice mortar, a brass candlesticke. Item I give and bequeath to my sone John all my shoppe tooles and three cauldrons. Item I make and Appoyn my wife Jeyne BUTCHER to be my whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament.
