wt 1739 Sarum Stowford, S Newton, Wilts In the Name of God Amen I John Self of Stowford in the parish of South Newton in the County of Wilts Dealer in Sheep being in Indifferent Bodily health but thanks be to Almighty God of sound and disposing mind and memory considering my mortallity have thought it proper to make this my last Will and Testament in the following manner wherein comitting my soul to God who gave it and my Body to the Earth to be decently Buried according to the discretion of mine Executrix herein after named I Give and bequeath unto William Burrough the Elder of Great Woodford the Sume of five shillings of good and Lawful Money, Also I Give unto John Sheepsey the Elder of the same place the like Sume of five shillings, Also I Give unto John Peary the Elder of the same place the like Sume of five shillings, Also I Give unto his Son in Law Larfiet the like Sume of five shillings, Also I Give unto Roger Blake of the same place the like Sume of five shillings, Also I Give unto the widow Good of the same place the like Sume of five shillings, Also I Give unto William Blake of the same place the like Sume of five shillings, Also I Give unto John Peary the Younger of the same place the like Sume of five shillings, Also I Give unto my Brother William Self, John Pile and Richard Pile One shilling a piece All which legacies abovementioned I will shall be paid within three months after my decease Also I Give unto Thomas Wooldrith and Elizabeth Wooldrith Son and Daughter of Thomas Wooldrith of South Newton five pounds apiece to be paid within six months after my Wifes decease, Also I Give unto Henry Self and John Self Sons of Robert Self of Amesbury five pounds apiece to be paid in six months after my Wifes decease All the rest and residue of my personal Estate Goods Chattels and Credits whatsoever and wheresoever I do Give and bequeath unto John, Richard, Henry, Steven and James the five Sons of Richard Pile of Chilhampton in the parish of South Newton aforesaid to be equally divided between them imediately after my Wifes decease, Also I Give unto Henry Pile the Bed Bedding and Wedding Ring that was his Grandmothers the use of which residue of my personal Estate Goods Chattels and Credits together with the use of the said Several Legacies or Sumes of five pounds before thereby bequeathed I do Give unto Sarah Self my beloved Wife for her life whom I do nominate and appoint full and Sole Executrix and do also Give her power to spend any part or all my personal Estate hereby otherwise devised if she shall happen to want the same for her necessary support and maintenance in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the Fifteenth day of March in the Year of our Lord One thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty Six Signed sealed and published by the said John Self John Self the Testator as his last Will and Testament in the presence of / those words / also I Give unto the said Henry Pile the Bed Bedding and Wedding Ring that was his grandmothers being first interlined.
