This particular guitar is made by Mr Derecho and Mr Ompad (his pupil) collaboration, in somewhere
around August-September 2004.
It's a traditional 7 fan bracing. The top is 2nd grade Engelmann Spruce. Back/sides are made
from some kind of rosewood from Brazil, but not Jacaranda for sure.
The trebles of the guitar are ringing somehow sweetly and brilliantly,
and a little bit lightly. The basses are a little bit
muddy, but I believe there is much room for improvements along with the time.
The power is quite big, but I am not sure about the projection.
Overall, tone-wise I would say this is still not a concert level guitar,
but indeed will suit the demand from serious students.
The neck is a little bit bigger than Derecho's usual size, which
gives a better playability for those who have a bigger/longer fingers.
The craftmanship of this guitar is no exception like other Derechos.
Very detailed and tidy. The wood grain holds its own beauty to eyes.
I initially bought this guitar for my friend, but it didn't fit his taste, since he wanted
a heavier sound on the treble sides, which only can be found in concert level guitars.
Indeed, it's not a concert level guitar, but student level one.
Considering the cost performance, this guitar is highly recommended for serious students.
Again, Mr Derecho is one of the raising star from South East Asian countries. In his country
he's considered the best luthier, but I would say he's the best even throughout
South East Asia.
