Mr. Antonio Marin Montero is currently, by all means, the most well-known and respected luthier in Granada, Spain.

This particular guitar is made before Mr.Marin got influences from Robert Bouchet, the famous French luthier. From this guitar specification, I assume at that time, Mr.Marin was influenced by Jose Ramirez III, although the sound was not a Ramirez one. But I believe it's closer to Madrid sound than to Granada sound.

I think this is one of the loudest guitar I have ever owned. In spite of 664mm scale, the playability is great, due to its neck shape. The basses are similar to a Fleta, according to some friends. The trebles are not too dark for a cedar top guitar, and crispy. Since the response is also fast too, it is enjoyable to play Spanish tunes with this guitar. The cedar is very tight grained, combined with back/side from Brazilian Rosewood. The craftmanship is great too. The only thing I found lacking in this guitar is the tone color richness.
I bought it in 2002, but I had to sell it a year later due to financial problems I had at that time. What a great loss! The current owner thanked me so much for selling this guitar with a cheap price. He even told me that the sound was exactly the one that he's been searching for years. As if he had found his soulmate !! which left me no ways to buy the guitar back from him now! I still have his original email (in Japanese only), which I quote in the Japanese version of this site.

Quite surprisingly that in the internet I only found one famous guitarist, Tom Kerstens who owes a 1990 Marin. I believe there should be more Marin lovers/users among the world great guitarists. Please share about this information to me.
