Lim Chin Tsong palace - pg 3
Some photos taken inside of the palace.
Set of two arch/curve winding stairways on either end above the Red front doors leading up to the second floor and balconey area were all made of Teak. The parquet flooring still looks new from when the palace was built between 1917-1919!!
I have to assume some of these large wall murals were done/deorated by a British husband and wife team. They were Ernest and Dod (Doris) Procter
who were comissioned to decorate the Kokine palace from 1919-1920.
A few more wall murals on the second floor by Ernest and Dod Procter. All the murals depicts Oriental sceneries, more Chinese to reflect my paternal Great Grandfather's Chinese heritage .
A very large wall divider - gold and red and teak separates the balcony area/stairs. Beyond the divider is the dome, where  another 2 storeys of the pagoda tower continues to rise above as seen in the photos outside. Using the clock as a reference, the overhead divider is about 30 feet (10 meters) across.
I was most interested in the several
horizontal half moon windows on the dome area of the pagoda tower.
Above them are possibly bronze or brass bats. Bats are considered symbols of happiness and longevity.
There were a lot of rooms on the main and second floor of the palace. Unfortunately, I could not take any pictures as they were all used as offices. Lots of goverment workers here & the office of an Army General and a high ranking Major in charge. The palace is now under the Ministry of Culture. On the compound are two wooden buildings where Burmese cultural music and dance are taught to the local youths.
There are some old family photos. Please use the link below.
