Blackberry Summer
The blackberry bruches, gave hope
to the nine year old boy
the money made from picking them,
would surely bring joy
With coffee can in hand, he picked
blackberries galore
filling the coffee can up, by the
time he reached the store
The man behind the counter, smiled
as gave him a dime
but he knew the boy woudn't save
it, he'd spend it in time
The boy would grab a soda, a candy
bar he'd grab too
when he went to pay the man, he
found enough for gum too
Then back up the road again, that
lead back to were he lives
it marveled at he happening, and
the pleasure the world gives
The pleasures of summer, and being
a boy nine
happiness is out there, if you
look you will find
Getting home mom has supper, and
sitting down to eat
the boy looks at the sitting, and
only pokes at his meat
His mother asks son, you've been
eating blackberries all day
the boy just smiles and sits there,
with nothing to say
