First Time
I remember the first day I saw you,
you stared at me in fear
you reached a hand out for me,
you even shed a tear
I held you in my arms to comfort,
giving you my love
you gave a little whimper, like
the cooing of a dove
With your head held on my shoulder,
I asked how could this be
to have such love, in so short
time, is this happening to me
A girl has never caught my eye,
not like this before
I gaze amazed at the love, the
way that I adore
A tremblin starts deep inside, the
fear of things that lay ahead
I lay you down, tuck you in, your
first time in my bed
I kiss your cheek and smile at
you, as you doze off to sleep
I brush my hand across your face,
and pray your soul to keep
But then the fear comes over me,
that one day you'll have to go
and that you will forget me, and
the love I show
A fathers worst nightmare, or so
it seems
the truth of, a fathers shattered
dreams
