Corner Dream

I saw her sitting in the corner, her beauty caught my eye
I thought how I'd like to hold her, knowing I must try
As I step alittle closer, the age becoming clear
but I knew I had to touch her, her voice I had to hear

The I thought of the many men, who had all come before me
but I saw the tenderness, and thought how could this be
Looking at the curves she had, a gleam came to my eye
I knew I had to hold her, I just knew I had to try

Thinking of the nights, with her neck stroked she saw it all
The many caressing hands, and the drunkards that she saw
Such a waste I thought as I recalled her many years
how that must has taken toll, I thought fighting back the tears

Now sitting in the corner, alone and showing scarred
I took her in my arms, and walked out in the yard
Sitting on the front porch, I thought we could go far
just me and my Daddy's, old Gibson guitar
