The Jedi Temple

Every step was filled with a wonderful anxiety; equal amounts of fear and excitement coursing through his system. It was invigorating and chilling all at once. To be able to start a new life away from the loneliness and recent horrors of his past, that was more than he could have dreamed of. And a Jedi, of all things… It was just awesome.
The Temple was a magnificent structure, and it stood towering over many of the other buildings around it. Though it couldn’t compete in size with some of the big industrial towers, it soared above them all in its beauty. The entrance was magnified by a few wide sets of stairs and a set of pillars on either side holding up the overhanging marble roof.
The walk seemed to last forever, his anxiety almost getting the best of him. He was about ready to burst when he had made it through the doors. Inside the carpet was a magnificent red with bright yellow tassels. They passed multiple doors in the hallway, but soon the Jedi led Corik into what looked like a luxurious lounging or living room. They asked him to be seated and said they would be back soon after they have had a word with the rest of the Jedi Council.
Corik sat for what seemed like a much longer time than he believed “soon” implied. However, they finally arrived again, and apologized for the delay as they led Corik out of the room and towards the Chamber of the Council.
When they entered they walked into the center of the room. Corik saw all around him Jedi, both men and women; some human but the rest a variety of other races. They eyed him as well, and though their stares were expressionless he knew their minds were filled with thought. The first one to speak was an old and short human man in the center. He looked fragile.
“Greetings, Corik. I am Master Sulcus, around me are other members of the Jedi Order. As you have been told, you have a strong connection to the Force, and that has attracted our curiosity. For the Jedi don’t normally see such a thing from just any ordinary person, mostly it comes from those who have been born in certain bloodlines. As you are parentless and have no known last name I see no way for us to tell just who your family was. But there is great potential for you, Corik. If you train under one of the Masters, you yourself could become a Jedi. What are your feelings?”

“I’m ready! I’ll start my training right away.” Corik blurted out.

“Don’t let your excitement get the best of you. Understand that the life of the Jedi is a hard one, and it takes extreme patience and discipline. Are you ready for this?”

“Yes sir! I mean, yes Master Sulcus.” Corik answered.

“Very well. To train, Jedi normally choose to focus on one particular discipline. It is most convenient that you have been introduced to three Master Jedi of these three different classes. You may choose one to be your teacher.” Master Sulcus remarked.

Corik turned around to view the three Jedi he knew by name. They now stood at the door, and it was Master Quithra who moved forward first.

“I studied to be a Jedi Consular. Consulars are negotiators and conversationalists. They solve problems through speech and words rather than extreme force or strength. They value peace and kindness over other things. In personality they tend to care and focus around people. They tend to train force powers over lightsaber skills. And ummm, that’s about it.” She stepped back shortly after finishing.

Next to step up was Master Jurix. “The way of the Jedi Guardian is the path I chose. They cut to the chase, resolving problems in the simplest way possible, and not hesitating to use force. They value courage and bravery the most. They are strong leaders, and focus on organizing and dealing with problems. They train mostly on skills with a lightsaber.” He stepped back and nodded for Master Edem to move forward, but he was already moving.

“The Jedi Sentinel is a practical warrior. They look for the best way to solve a problem, willing to use any technical skills over speech or strength to solve a problem. They value justice and control most highly. Being versatile fighters, they adapt quickly to sudden changes. They strike a medium in focus on force powers and lightsaber combat. They tend to incorporate many different talents and skills as well, trying to be as handy as possible.” With a smile he moved back.
Corik turned back to Master Sulcus as he said “So Corik, which one seems to fit you the best?”
