Out in Space

Corik’s mind dwelt heavily on the recent events, but most of all the loss of his good friend Jethra. Why me? he thought to himself. What did I do to deserve such a fate? The world had truly been turned upside down for him. Not only had he lost the only home he had worked so hard on his own to obtain, but the dream of reuniting with his old friend was dead, literally.
What did he have left? He had anger against… Well, he didn’t know who they were, but he hated them. But even more, he hated the Jedi that killed Jethra. It was a seething hate, one Corik didn’t think could ever be extinguished. And the few moments he had were a cross between sobs of sadness and groans of anger. The pain was something he had never experienced before, deeper than the metal bar that stuck him in the leg during the construction of his house a few years back.
But soon he had to stop, at least for enough time to figure out where he was going. He could find another remote planet, settle, and live the rest of his life on his own in an attempt to forget all that had happened today. Or he could make an attempt at bringing justice to the matters that took place, and perhaps get revenge on those who deserve it. Though the former was more reasonable, the latter seemed to satisfy his emotions more. He couldn’t tell if he was being the least bit rational, but his current state kept him from caring, and thus he became content with his decision. But where to begin?
He needed to find the Republic. The idea sounded so simple, being that the Republic had an influence on most civilized systems. Except it didn’t, at least not any this remote or far out. So transportation was an issue. The fighter he currently was in was a short range fighter, not fitted with light speed capabilities. He couldn’t fly to anything far out, he would run out of fuel long before then. First he would need to barter for a new ship on some neighboring planet.
As he exited the planet’s atmosphere, he saw the intensity of the invasion. Thousands of fighters, a few hundred battleships, and a few dozen cruisers were all over the area. Luckily Corik had left in a pocket away from most of the action which he planned on avoiding.
One of the nearby systems was Gylia. Though Corik knew it only by name, he knew it would have plenty of merchants, traders, and gamblers. Most planets this far out had nothing else to offer.
The planet was mainly a grassland for farmers, though it had a fairly decent number of spaceports. As Corik approached the planet he began searching the ship’s archives in pursuit of the most convenient one. Ijuta was the first name that appeared after punching in his current location. It’s size was decent, and the description mentioned multiple areas that Corik found promising. Perhaps I can pull this off  he thought, if I play my cards right.
