| It started with a loss but finished with glory as Togo proved their pedigree in African qualifying to reach Germany. Despite only a 2-1 aggrigate win over Equitorial Guinea and a loss to Zambia first up, an emphatic 3-1 win over group favourites Senegal set Togo on the way to qualification. 20 from the next 24 available points saw Togo keep Senegal at an arms length all campaign to record their first ever qualification to a world cup. Star striker Emmanuel Adebayor was easily the star in front of goal for togo, scoring 11 goals and topping the African goalscorers list. |
