The Tequila Angel Choir
When I first went into the studio to work on this album, I was going to call it "Thief Of Hearts". As we worked on it, it took on new colours, a different feel, as we would record songs, keep some, discard others, I'd write new ones, we'd record some more, and about half way through I re-named the album "The Ladies Of Summer".
I always tried to treat my people well and set a mood in the studio that I hoped would come through in the recording. So, a two-four of Corona, a bottle of tequila, some margarita mix...you know, setting the mood...
Now, one night back when it was still "Thief Of Hearts", John and I had just a couple of the singers in to work on what at the time was the title track, Thief Of Hearts. It was Nora and Nancy. These two girls were hitting notes and striking harmonies only Nora and Nancy together could attempt or acheive. At one point either John or I said something about they sounded like angels, and thereafter the backup singers on the project were The Tequila Angel Choir.

*Just a note: by the time we were finished that summer, we had not only completed The Ladies Of Summer, but ALSO Thief Of Hearts, which you can order from
MP3.com.
Hard at work with Trevor, Jack, and, I think, one or two other Barters.
Nora, Nancy, Pam and Cherie.
Nora, Nancy and Margo. Margo Evers never showed up in the credits on the album cover, so either we never used the song she helped out on, or there has been a mistake and I owe Margo an apology. I'll get back to you on this...
The night we did "Consuela", the only song Harvey is on. It's a trick to pick him out of the mix, but once you find him, you'll never lose him. In this pic: Harvey, Ken, Jack and Jaimie.
