Personal History:

Born and raised in Scorpia, Nell was the only child of Rhea Dorkas, a woman who made a living of 'serving' the staff of the Colonial Fleet shipyard located in Scorpion. She never met her father and she doubted her mother knew for sure who he was but Nell had many 'uncles'. Some nice, others not so much. Rhea had the habit of attracting the worst kind of men. They got drunk together, fought, and she got beaten up. Afterwards, Rhea used what was left of her strength on Nell. She needed to unleash her frustration at someone and Nell was the only one around.

Nell had to grow up very fast and learn to take care of herself and cope with things most children never have to go through in order to survive and she survived. She also took care of her mother. Despite Rhea's indifference and violence towards her, Nell was always at her side, making sure she hadn't drank herself to death, and that the house was clean and they had something to eat. Nell's life changed when she was nine years old though. Rhea killed a lover during a fight and she was charged and convicted of murder. Nell was sent to foster care until she was old enough to join the Colonial Fleet.

It was never Nell's intention to become a pilot but high tests scores and a natural talent lead her to flight school. She thrived during training finding both theory and practice very easy. Nell's problems were social. She had problems working with the other pilots. Upon graduation, Nell was assigned to the Battlestar Atlantia and there she excelled among the other new pilots. She was bold, aggressive and creative during the maneuvers. Outside a Viper, Nell continued to struggle to fit in. She simply didn't get along with anyone in a personal level.

It was only aboard the Galactica that Nell was able to create some sort of bond with the members of her squadron. She had been flying with the Red squadron for almost two years and they had grown used to one another. Nell was specially close to Lt. Ioan Theron and their friendship turned into romance after some time. They married in secret during a leave on Caprica. Nell didn't want either of them transferred out of the Galactica because of their relationship though Nell always suspected Commander Adama knew about them in some level.

For the first time in Nell's life she was really happy. Things were going well both professionally and personally but then the cylon attacked happened and everything changed. The Red squadron sustained heavy loses during the first attack waves and Ioan was among those who perished in battle. Nell survived to see the 'birth' of the ragtag fleet under Galactica's protection and while she grieves in silence and alone for her husband she waits for her revenge as the Red Squadron is reactivated under new leadership.

Personality:

Nell is a bold, resilient and determined young woman with an independent trait that makes it difficult for her to work in groups. She was used to being alone and doing things her own way. She struggled with that during her entire training and afterwards. It takes her time to accept someone else leadership but Nell can recognize when one is worth of her respect, most of the time anyway.

She comes out as quiet, cynical, somewhat detached and she likes to be left alone but Nell also has a knack for speaking her mind and show her displeasure when something is done or said and she doesn't like. She is forthright and to the point. Nell is easy to anger and vindictive but she'll seek her revenge in the opportune moment. She usually doesn't allow her emotions to control her actions.

Nell has problems forming social relationships. She doesn't know how to open up to other people, make friends and let people get close but it can happen...with time and perhaps a lot of patience. Trust doesn't come easily to her but she will be loyal 'til the end to whoever earns it.

Nell's career in the fleet was never about becoming the best pilot or raising among the ranks. She was interested in pushing her limits and herself as far as she could go and maybe a bit further. Now it's also about the survival of human race and revenge.

Hobbies/Interests:

Jogging, boxing, playing card games and reading.
