Personal History:

Caleb was born on Virgo. Both his father and mother were Doctors. Caleb grew up in a comfortable middle class surroundings. His parents expected him to follow their path and become a doctor. Caleb had other plans. He wanted to be a warrior and fight the Cylons. In Caleb's mind this was the most important thing of all. If the Colonies lost the war it really wouldn't matter what job you did. Another reason is that he wanted to part of history.

Caleb joined the military. He graduated at the top of his class in pilot school. Caleb was assigned to the Battlestar Triton, a young eager and idealistic warrior. However his enthusiasm soon began to be ground away by what he saw as a military that seemed more obsessed with petty rules then defeating the Cylons. It seemed you could shoot down a hundred raiders but still get put on report for your bunk not being made correctly. Despite his growing disillusionment he could not bring himself to resign. He knew the Cylons wouldn't stop so neither could he.

Caleb served a total of 8 yarhens. During that time he became a skilled and experienced warrior. Most warriors with those qualities would have been promoted to Captain but because of his perceived "attitude problem" he remained a Lieutenant. Then out of nowhere the Cylons wanted peace. Caleb had his doubts but he finally saw a way out. The war was over and he could resign with honor, having done his duty.

None of that happened. Baltar betrayed humanity. The Cylons destroyed the Colonies. Caleb was one of the few warriors able to launch from the Triton. If he had been younger he might have gone down fighting. But 8 yarhens of experience had taught him a dead warrior is useless. Caleb fought his way through the Cylons and made it to Galactica. Any hope of leaving the fight is over. He knows now the long war will never end.

Personality:

Caleb has always had a sense of humor, though it has grown more cynical. Underneath the jaded surface the idealistic warrior still exist. Caleb will socialize with his fellow squadron mates, though he often likes to spend time alone. Combat is the one thing that hasn't changed for him. It's here he feels most alive and what kept him from losing all hope.
