Normally I don’t bother to read the articles written by David Roberts, but his most recent one regarding “hate” interested me.
In the second paragraph, the Sexual Orientation Diversity Association was mentioned along with our “frequent” use of the word “hate.”
It even cited an example. First, I would like to claim that particular chalking as one I wrote: “Jesus forgives hate, he can forgive your hate.” But nowhere did I write: “David Roberts, God can forgive your hate.”
I am well aware that there are many people on the OSU campus who don’t agree with homosexuality but don’t “hate” us.
That particular chalking was directed toward the people who regularly deface our chalkings — those who do, in fact, hate us.
Under the words of a recent chalking I wrote that read, “I love my gay friends” I saw someone had scribbled pathetically the statement: “They’re just gonna burn in hell.”
They were not sharing a personal mission statement. That was an act of hatred because, let’s face it, their God taught compassion and that was not the act of a compassionate person.
So, David, the next time you feel personally abused by SODA, bare in mind that I, as a bisexual woman, routinely receive abuse — so I feel your pain.
