Dear Editor:
On behalf of all Christians out there, let me apologize for David Roberts' column, "Why do students drink beer?"
First of all, I thought we were coming at people with the attitude of "love the sinner, hate the sin." All this column did was to condemn and point an unforgiving, ugly finger at the people who consume alcohol.
Let me be the first to say that I am a Christian who absolutely loves the Lord, but I have been to a point in my life where there was nothing I didn't do. I understand why college students go to parties and why they drink beer, but if we are going to give a lecture on beer, let's do it the right way.
The right way is to talk to people like they are somewhat intelligent and use the Bible to back you up.
The wrong way is to say things to people like comparing beer drinkers to "couch potatoes with beer guts" or by being sarcastic and saying it's "cool" to go out and kill someone.
These things are very good examples of the exact opposite way the Christians should confront things they don't agree with.
