Who will be going to hell?

Letter to the Editor
“Jesus is the Answer” by David Roberts, started out okay. It basically said Christians need to act more like Christ. I couldn’t agree more. Then it started in on the classic Bible Belt rant: (to paraphrase) “We need to save these heathens from Hell.” Somehow, hearing that I am going to hell has never been incentive for me to change my religious beliefs.

If Christians want to act more like Christ, they should be kind to prostitutes, thieves and adulterers. They should live the principles of “love thy neighbor as thyself,” and let those without sin cast the first stone. That example would teach us heathens much more about the love of Christ than hearing once more that we are going to hell (again).

Please note that Preacher Bob is a prime example of someone who does nothing to help the students (young mothers, those with barely enough money to live, those suffering from addictions or illness, etc). But he feels that it is okay for him to tell those same students they are going to hell because they don’t agree with him.
