Conservative propaganda?

Letter to the editor
I disagree with Tuesday's column about the liberals and how they "want" to waste our surplus. David Roberts should take his position as a columnist more seriously and not use it merely as a platform to promote inaccurate and overly conservative propaganda.

He said the Democrat is a "faceless part of the utterly helpless masses." I disagree completely with that remark. Democrats have been instrumental in advocating such programs as Social Security and increased fuinding for prescriptions under Medicare
. Democrats have been on the front line for the American people and not just part of, "the utterly helpless masses." Helping people help themselves is very noble.

Democrats view the suprlus as a way to strengthen these programs that Roberts and his elitist Republican counterparts want to see wither away and die.

We must use the surplus as a means to move forward and ensure that no one is left behind. I could talk all day about the widening "digital divide" and the new new segregation in American society, but I will not.

In closing, please look at all things closely and do not buy into overly conservative propaganda from someone whose column is titled, "The Conservative Advocate."
