As a side note, if this was Clinton, he would be heralded for working to keep a campaign promise. But who’s applauding Bush’s efforts? It’s certainly not the media or the Democrats.
Instead, the Democrats have continued their deception, telling us that “we
can’t afford a tax cut,” or “it’s a tax cut for the wealthy, and they certainly
don’t NEED a tax cut.”
Ladies and gentlemen, if you believe either of these
statements, then you are believing a lie.
I do not understand how some Americans actually think their money is doing more good in Washington than it is in their own home. It’s as if they think that it wasn’t their money, but the government’s from the start.
Perhaps they think that way because the likes of Senator Daschle or Representative Gephardt continue filling the airwaves with this ignorant idea. If it comes from the mouth of Daschle or Gephardt, it must be true — right?
Consider the myth claiming that Bush’s tax cut is only for the “wealthy.” Democrats love to tout this claim because it is so vague. Instead of thoughtfully considering the words of democratic leaders, people just swallow them and get a bad case of class envy. But who defines what “wealthy” is? Furthermore, who decides who NEEDS a tax cut?
When I think of “wealthy,” I think of large mansions, limousines, and yachts. Yet not everyone has the same picture of “wealthy.” People who consider themselves “poor” by American standards are considered “filthy rich” by many in Third World countries. Thus, if the “poor” of America want to say that the “wealthy” of America don’t need a tax cut, then what is to keep those in impoverished nations from casting the same judgment on America’s “poor?”
By that same standard, the Third World residents could claim that America’s “poor” do not need a tax cut either.
Think about this, folks. Even the homeless people in New York have a better life than the starving people in Ethiopia. We ought to not make such value judgments lest we get caught up in being jealous of Donald Trump because he’s got a Rolls Royce and we’ve got Geo Metros.
In the meantime, the government is picking our pockets and Trump’s pocket, too. We think life is groovy because Trump is getting nailed with taxes galore, but all the while, we’re getting hammered by the government, too.
If we would only wake up and smell the coffee. Some of you think I’m making this up, but I’ve actually heard people admit that they feel better when they think that a “wealthy” person takes a hit in taxes. What morons.
It’s time that America realizes it’s not about who “deserves” a tax cut and who doesn’t. Instead, we should be asking, “Does the government really need to take 40-plus percent of my income and tax me at the store and tax me for my home and tax me for gas.” The list goes on.
The government can easily “afford” to give us a cut in income taxes, considering all the other taxes that it imposes on us. Furthermore, all tax-paying citizens deserve and need a tax cut, regardless of their social status. Anyone who believes otherwise is a fool.
