If they rule in favor of her, then Bush will finally be declared the winner. If not, then Gore’s camp will certainly try to comb every Democratic county from here to “Kingdom Come” in order to find the X number of votes necessary to beat Bush in Florida.
The true fact is that Gore will stop at nothing to assure his place in the White House. He simply cannot muster the dignity and honor to graciously concede to Bush. What we’ve seen the past 10 days is indicative of what a Gore presidency would be — a total disregard for the law and a division of America. Florida law mandates that the counties submit all recounted ballots by last Tuesday. Yet, the Supreme Court decision expected today could affect the application of that law. What it boils down to is this — Gore’s supporters don’t like that law, so they are trying to change it in the midst of the event. This is not proper.
We don’t change laws while something is occurring. We wouldn’t change the rules in the midst of a poker game. Instead, we would wait until the end and then make appropriate changes to the rules. The same applies here. “Well, this is a presidential election, not a poker game “The stakes are much higher," says the blinded liberal.
This may be a presidential election, and the stakes may be high, but what’s
ultimately at stake here is the future of this nation. If we start changing laws
in the midst of this election, then we’ll have set a precedent for future
generations that laws don’t mean a whole lot.
The Constitution will be
rendered powerless. The nation will dissolve into anarchy and chaos. Is that
what we want for our descendants?
I seriously wonder how many Gore supporters out there are truly pleased with the actions of the Gore camp this past week. They’ve launched personal attacks against a woman — Katherine Harris.
In fact, they’ve issued a statement that said if the Supreme Court rules in favor of her, they would launch a legal assault against her that makes Whitewater look like a picnic. That’s odd. I thought Democrats were the champions of women’s advancement, and yet here they are assaulting this woman. The hypocrisy is stifling. Furthermore, they would continue to recount until they came up with a count which is pleasing — one that lands Gore in the White House.
The votes have been counted and recounted. Bush has won all cases thus far. How much longer will Gore string this nation along in uncertainty? How much longer will he tear this nation apart?
Don’t be deceived by claims that further hand counts will give an accurate end. Hand counts are subject to human error and personal bias on the part of the counter. This is not how ballots were meant to be counted. It is the voter’s responsibility to mark a ballot properly.
Vague ballots are, by law, thrown out. They are not to be deciphered later by a biased human.
America has not been pleased with the Democratic Party’s actions this past week. America wants a president — not continuing legal suits. Gore has given us the latter.
