Without morals, America may fall

David Roberts

It saddens me greatly to see the level to which American society has sunk.

Our president has not only disgraced himself, but the entire country as well.

The issues of Clinton's morality — or lack thereof — whirl about, yet no one seems to care.

People continue to exonerate his lewd behavior, hiding behind arguments such as "it's his personal business," or, "the economy is great, so who cares what he does behind closed doors?"

Have we sunk so low that all we care about is money?

On a side note, liberals constantly accuse conservatives of being greedy, but it seems in this case, the liberal spin doctors have appealed to our pocketbooks in attempt to get the spotlight off of Clinton's immoral behavior.

They create the notion that the economy is good, so the president's morality is not an issue.

It's all about money.

Needless to say, there's more to success as a nation than booming economics.

In fact, economics play a rather small role in a nation's success.

Think about this for a moment.

What does it matter for a nation to have a good economy, when everything else is going down the tubes?

Crime is rampant across the United States.

Abortions occur at the rate of about 4,400 per day.

Pornography is pumped out daily by the volumes.

We've got teen suicide, teen pregnancy, and elementary school kids bringing guns to school.

It used to be that the biggest problems in the public schools were talking and chewing gum.

Nowadays, it's guns and drugs.

Kids are dropping out of school and getting drunk or doped up.

They're going out and having sex like there's no tomorrow.

And we wonder why AIDS and other such STDs are ravaging the land.

Hello?

Am I hitting home here?

Going on, divorce is rampant within the American home.

Rape, robbery, and murder top the daily police reports.

The list goes on and on, folks.

Look at all these problems, and yet no one gives a rat's rear end because the economy is good.

Is there something wrong with this picture?

I should think so.

In a day and age when immorality is raging across the land, we need a leader who will prove to be a role model not only for our children, but for us as well.

Yet, it seems all we really have is a leader who will contribute to the moral decay of the United States.

This is not the way it should be.

Folks, I daresay that morality is vital to a nation's success.

Look at what I've described above.

Do you still think that this nation is a successful nation?

Are you still deceived by Clinton's spin doctors who coined the slogan: "It's the economy, stupid?"

As you can see, there's a lot more to it than the economy.

You may look at the history of America and think, "We've been a pretty successful nation. We have a good future ahead of us."

However, a nation deprived of morals is a nation heading towards destruction.

Babylon — as great as it was — fell.

Rome fell.

I would not be surprised if moral decay led to their destruction.

America is truly a great nation.

Yet, we must realize that greatness comes from intangible sources such as morality, honesty and integrity.

If we live according to such a philosophy, the monetary success will follow suit.

It's time to wake up, people.

Don't be deceived by those who would tell you that morality and character are not important. As Bill Clinton has taught us, those traits most certainly are.

Think about this folks. It's all about morality.
