Prepare for the Republican regime

David Roberts

Welcome to a new semester, a new year, and by some standards — a new millennium! Also, welcome to four years of bliss! Now that Bush has been inaugurated, and Slick Willy has exited the premises, we can move this nation forward to a level beyond where we’ve been stuck for the last 50 years.

We’ve all heard constant liberal rubbish about “evil” Republicans, and how they want to starve our children and hang the elderly out to dry. Unfortunately, too many voters believed that lie for the longest time. Now that Republicans control the executive and legislative branches of the federal government, we finally have an opportunity to see if the extreme left was right.

Of course, we will, in fact, see that they were flat wrong. When children are getting fed and elderly and getting cared for under this Republican leadership, how will the extreme left justify their scare tactics?

The truth is that they won’t be able to. When that happens, how will we, the average citizens, respond? Will we continue to believe their lie, or will we begin to shun their blinding words and philosophies? I hope for the sake of this nation we decide the latter.

Friends, this revelation should not take us by surprise. If we paid any attention to the campaign, then we already know that the left is full of lies. Of course, we all hoped that the talking heads on TV would just say it outright, but they watered down their words.

Apparently, they didn’t want to offend someone. However, I will not water down my words. When someone tells lies, they should be referred to as a liar. It’s about that simple.

Now that I’ve shared that, let’s get on to what’s in store for the future. If we enjoy having additional money in our pockets, then be glad for the promised tax cut is on its way.

Furthermore, the new education package will be coming soon. Many predicted that these two programs would face opposition, but Democrats are joining President Bush in droves to support him on these efforts.

Let’s be excited about the programs, but more importantly, let’s be excited that we finally won’t have to listen to a president that is continuously using evasive language to cover up his multitudinous scandals. Is America tired of the scandal era? Apparently we are because we just voted in an individual who’s not clouded by such mire.

It’s difficult to predict what the future will hold for us four years from now. I do know that while Clinton may try to take credit for a robust economy during his term, let’s not forget that his last year saw an astute decline in the economy. That’s not a good note for a president to leave on. Nevertheless, we need not fear a recession. Regardless of what the pundits say, Bush’s tax proposal will provide a boost for our faltering economy.

I could go on and on about the successes that I see in store for our future. The skeptical reader may not agree with me, but just watch and see. In four years when I’m proven right, you may then contact me and tell me how much you laud my optimism and correctness on a vast number of issues. Until then, please try to keep an open mind.
