INTRODUCTION

The last day of school is approaching fast. What is a better way of celebrating your hard work and achievement than with a party on the last day of school, a party for the entire class. Think of all the yummy food you can make with your knowledge of fractions. What food will you cook for everyone? Will you be able to feed everyone in the class?

Things to know: If you see this symbol you will find helpful websites where you can retrieve information to solve the WebQuest.

THE TASK

You have been placed in charge of feeding the entire class for a party on the last day of school.

Your job:

Find the recipe for KRAFT® Fresh Tomato & Basil Pasta

Kraft Cookbook

How many people does this recipe serve? How many people do you need to feed?

Your job: Change this recipe using your knowledge of fractions so that it will feed the amount of people that you need to feed at the party.

No meal is complete without DESSERT!

Your Job: Choose a dessert (your choice of cookies or brownies you choose the flavor), find the recipe, and change it using your knowledge of fractions so that it will feed the amount of people at the party.

THE PROCESS

During this project you will be working in cooperative groups. Each group will have 3 members. Each member of the group will have a job.

GROUP JOBS

- Organizer -This person makes sure that everyone in the group has a chance to talk and explain his or her ideas and that the group stays on task.

- Record Keeper - This person listens and participates in the group discussions, takes notes during the group's brainstorming sessions and provides the team members access to these notes.

- Messenger - This person listens for group problems and questions and is a messenger to update the teacher on the group's progress.

Step 1:

How many people do you need to serve? How many people in total will be attending the end-of-the-year party?

Step 2:

Find the recipe for Kraft Tomato and Basil Pasta in the Kraft Cookbook.

  Kraft Cookbook

Things to think about:

- Look over the amount of each ingredient.

- How many people does this recipe serve? (serving size)

- How many people do you need to feed?

Step 3:

Look at the serving size. How many people does this recipe serve? Using your knowledge of fractions you must adjust EACH amount of EACH ingredient so that when you make this recipe the entire class can eat.
