SEAN O'CASEY

O'Casey was born in Lower Dorset Street in Dublin in 1880. His background
was poor, working class, and Protestant. It is undeniable that his early experiences of poverty, influenced not only his writings, but his whole political
stance. The Dublin of O'Casey's day was rich with characters, and the original
"Joxer Daly" (from O'Casey's play Juno And The Paycock ) and "Fluther Good" (from The plough and the stars ) were to be found on the streets of Dublin, and to be seen in the Dublin pubs. They were all based on O'Casey's real experiences in tenement houses in Dublin. When I saw Juno with my Mother and Grandmother in the Gate Theatre in Dublin, I was converted  to Seán O'Casey for life. I hope to have a seperate website for O'Casey, named
after the street he was born in, and shaped his early life. If you want to have a sneak preview, click here
