There's A Really Short Message
A Dorkless World
There's a really short message in my yearbook
It's not difficult for someone to overlook
A few simple words
Nothing too absurd
Blends in with the background
Easy to look around

There's a really short message in my yearbook
The one note I stop at to take a look
Those words aren't heartfelt and filled with love
They simply said "We need to continue to be good friends in the years to come"
I feel so much more when I read that jot
The scribbled jumble really means a lot

There's a really short message in my yearbook
The one message I wish would have been longer than he took
I wrote so much more than he
My message was long, thought out, and written clearly
That really short message came from the one I used to love
I lost him and wanted him back more than all the stars above

There's a really short message in my yearbook
From the one to whom I became hooked
Not even a choir of angels can express
His absolute "perfectness"
I'm sure he doesn't know
My love didn't even begin to show

I love you, you're one of my best friends
And all I thought I knew was that in the end
The only thing I wanted was you
What else could I possibly have tried to do?
To have proven that I was for real when I would say
I loved you more than could ever have been displayed

                                    Sincerely,
The one who loved you dearly
