CABBAGE-A-GO-GO lay out a large cabbage leaf,, make a mix of 1 tblspnPeanut butter, 1/2 teaspnTomYum paste, chilli, avocado, corn kernels, chopped snow peas, grated carrot and apple, lettuce, and tuna.little mayonaisse. Spoon onto cabbage leaf, roll up, cut in half, and eat vigorously. Kerry and I made this one night when there was apparently nothing left to eat. which goes to prove once more, that necessity is the mother of reasonably good snacks.

in 1979 I lived in a 3 bedroom terrace in Redfern in sydney. I shared with two uni students, ironically both named Phil. When there was nothing to eat, they would raid my small change jar, and bolt to the shops to buy "Vesta" instant dinners. 4 years after leaving the house, there was a fire, and the police forensics people found a white substance behind the fridge. It was assumed to be an illegal drug . mislaid by the previous tennants It was , in fact the discarded remains of one such Vesta meal I was served in atonement for the change jar robberies. Hordes of rats and plagues of cockroaches, for 4 long years, had chosen death by starvation, over the horrors of the "instant" dinner. The last dying words of John "hired goon" rat, were reported to be.."Tell the Boss,... there was no Cabbage-a-Go-Go" at No63..." |
