THE 1946 DERWENT RADIO..
UPDATE: I have recently sold the Radio (Unrestored) to another collector but I'll keep this page here.

If you have any info on this set please email me and I'll pass the info on!

If anyone has another one of these sets (Or indeed anything similar) let me know as I'm looking for another project!
This Radio is a bit of a Mystery. Apart from the fact it is branded Derwent there is no sign of a model number or when it was made although I have narrowed the date down to 1946.

Derwent sets were made and exclusively serviced by "Central Equipment Ltd" of Wadsworth Road, Perivale in Middlesex. They were only ever Rented, never sold, and for this reason service information is very scarce as no one but CEL touched them!

It is in good condition but it is missing the back to the case and the previous owner assures me that it still works....I haven't yet had the courage to power the beast up..

The set was also manufactured with an attractive Ivory cabinet.

If anyone knows what this set is, has any restoration tips or better still has a Circuit diagram, please let me know!

I aim to cover the restoration here as it progresses...watch this space!
The set features four Valves and mains energised speaker.

The valves are:

Mullard EBC33 "Binode";
Mullard CL33 "Pentone";
Mullard EF39
Mullard CCH35

The rectifier is a Metal semiconductor type.
Note the aerial coil wound on a square, "paxolin"  former on the right hand side.
This radio is listed on the: Worldwide Vintage Radio Database
