I blame the purchase of this frameset directly on my friend Chuck Johnston from Colorado. Here he is after getting thrown out of the house by his wife Joanne after making too many vroom vroom noises with his Porsche shifter. Chuck turned me onto this frame, explaining that riders of our vintage belong on real steel bikes and not plastic ones like my former Scattante. The chrome on this thing appealed to the crow in me - collecting all things shiny, so I bit. Now it's my turn to live in a snowbank! |

Ok ok - after some discussions with Chuck, I find it neccessary to save his reputation and tarnish my own a bit - Here's an excerpt of his note to me after I sent him the Porsche shifter:
Dear Dave, Thank you for the Amazing Shiftomatic. How could you part with something as rare as this? Unfortunately it has caused me some problems. Please send me $$$$money now.....I am homeless and starving. My wife kicked me out of the house and I cannot get the Amazing Shiftomatic with Turbo Thrust to stick to the snow....maybe tonight after it freezes it may stick to the ice. All I did was follow the instructions and play race car sounds on my confuser. Maybe I did the vroom vroom sounds too much...or was it the crash sounds I made playing Dave Whitney driving the 911?
....Guilty as charged...I have to admit, I did crash a 911 just like Chuck's. |
