NSW off road
When I started getting heavy into Jeeping I wanted to join a 4x4 club. Lots of clubs out there ranging from mud clubs to mall cruisers to rock crawlers. Unfortunately the only club in this area was a mud club, I wanted to be in a  trail riding club. After talking with several clubs I ended up joining the Dakota Dirt Diggers. Of all the clubs I talked to the Diggers were by far the nicest to me. They made me feel right at home, the problem was the club was "too far" from home. 200 miles to club meetings and 200 miles home again. After a couple years of 400 mile round trips I finally had enough. During that time I was learning about clubs and club politics so I could apply what I had learned to my own club, the North Shore Wheelers. It took a while but I recruted my first "non family" club member. Being all over the internet advertising the club and making it appear as though the club had members, I finally had someone interested in joining. I set up a meeting with the guy, did an interview of sorts, I kept avoiding the " how many members are there? " issue and told him he was in. When I finally told him there were only three of us it didn't seem to bother him so we went to work on building up the club. It's been a lot of work but the NSW now has a great core group and is gaining in popularity and membership is growing. Good things ahead for the club.
