The Bottom Line

The Bottom Line

Wrestlemania X-Seven isn't far away. On Monday 2nd April, at 1am, with most of the sane world asleep and preparing for school or work, university students worldwide stay awake. Most of them won't be watching the WWF's gala event, but hey, it sounds impressive. But we all know what will happen. The Rock will take on Stone Cold, and the Texas Rattlesnake will walk out with the title.

But I'm not gonna talk about that. Well, maybe a bit. You see, the Rock has to drop the strap. He's filming the prequel to The Mummy, 'The Scorpion King.' So he's got to disappear for the best part of a month. Maybe more. Which in my opinion leaves a gap. When Rocky returns, he'll surely go after Stone Cold as a big bad-ass heel.

But I'm confused. If you check the roster at the moment, there's a dodgy balance.

Heels - Triple H, Rikishi, Chris Benoit, The Big Show, Kurt Angle, Haku, Eddie Guerrero, William Regal.

Faces - Undertaker, Kane, Stone Cold, Chris Jericho, Mick Foley?.

I know I've forgotten someone. Hopefully I'll remember before I finish this, and delete this bit. I've missed out two people here in Shawn Michaels and The Rock. Because I don't have a clue what the WWF has planned, rather what I'd do. But when you look at it, you can clearly see that there's a bit of a balls-up. There's only 3 faces there to go after the big title, cos Y2J's holding other belts and Foley won't go back down that road. So where does the WWF go?

If Rocky goes heel, Angle must go face. Now I know I've said this in my last column, but it really does make sense. In my time of watching WWF, I've been disgusted with the way that the federation has treated Angle as a champ. No wonder Triple H is alleged to have said that Angle's title reign is long over. Kurt is the man who always gets pinned if there's to be a clean pin in those annoying tag-team matches at the end of Raw or Smackdown. He has retained his title primarily through interference or luck, and he's not been pushed as a monster heel. If they have to have him Olympic Slam Essa Rios three times to try and get over then they should just give up. And hopefully, they will, as he's a funny guy. Watch the cheers when he starts a program with Regal. And trust me, Benoit vs Angle will be a hell of a match.

But just swapping The Rock for Angle won't do that much. So what to do? None of the other heels, with the exception of maybe the Big Show can realistically turn face. Can anyone get pushed through the ranks? Well, if you look at the mid-card faces, there's really only Billy Gunn (no, no, God no.), Test and possibly Tazz that could step up. But even these guys don't really have the ability to hold down a main-event status. The ECW boys that Mick Foley is rumoured to be bringing into the WWF for scripting purposes can't go straight in there. So, it seems like the WWF is slightly stuck for an idea.

So here's what I'm suggesting. All you ObstaB fans, write me a suggestion of what you would do to resolve this problem. Who would you push? Who would you change from heel to face or vice versa? Who would you sign? And most importantly, with the best suggestion in this bit winning satisfaction, if Vinnie Mac had to sign me, how would you package my character?

Send all your suggestions to me at [email protected] and I promise to acknowledge EVERYONE who responds. Thanks to the unique way that this website is funded, you make it what it is. Or is that the BBC? Please give me some feedback, and let me know that you love me. Or hate me. Ta!

Alright, that's my monthly BS.

And that's the Bottom Line, cos ObstaB said so.
