Brilliant, astute, genius, quick, witty, smart, bright. These are all synonyms for intelligent.
To quote Rousseau, "She alone can win the father's love for his children and convince him that they are indeed his own" (Rousseau, Duties of Women, p. 3). He then followed up with, "...man is dependant on woman through his desires..." (Rousseau, Duties of Women, p. 7).
Most people think that Rousseau was a cad for his deplorable railing at women and their "place." In reality, we all have something to say to him. His gender- role classification system not only confines women to stereotypes, but also casually assumes that men are incapable of being loving parents, trusting husbands, or in control of their passions.

Here are some good anologies Mike has made:
AMD vs. Itel Chips
"An AMD chip and Intel chip are very similar. Think of it this way, The Intel's heat controlling mechanisms are like seatbelts. While you may not need them every day, the one time you have a fan malfunction, or a 'car accident' you're gonna want the 'seatbelts.'"
Disarmement of Iraq vs. Korea
"It's like they're two little kids, one's building a gun, and one's got a gun
and is not using it. [Iraq and Korea, respectively.] Do you (A) grab the gun from the kid that doesn't want to use it and try to take it away not knowing if you'll be able to, or (B) disarm the one who wants to use it knowing you can disarm him, then move on to the other? We've seen in the 50's the problem Korea can be, and if we start in Korea we won't be able to get out before Saddam has nuclear weapons. How many wars do we want to fight with Nuclear powers, one or two?"
