"Last year, thousands of revelers spilled into areas around Post Street where Waves had sponsored the Mardi Gras event. A handful of men surrounded a group of reluctant women, trying to get them to flash their breasts.

When officers arrived, they were pelted with rocks and bottles, while bands of young men began smashing windows along Paseo de San Antonio. The vandalism continued at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Joseph on Market Street where suspects beheaded a 73-year-old statue of St. Ignatius. The head was later found at a Santa Clara bar."
