Reality
My grip on reality is tenuous at best
I find myself the butt of every jest
But in truth the jokes not on me
I'm the only one who seems to see
That the bitter harsh Reality
Is that we are destroying ourselves
Its a fact that I'm not like the others
I try to explain but nobody bothers
They make the same mistakes again
Putting to much faith alone in name
When will they learn how to hear?
They live their lives cowering in fear.
All alone in this cruel existence
I have to abide by their ignorance
They show me no love or kindness
And yet I'm meant to be an optimist
To hope against hope they'll evolve
It so sorely tests my hearts resolve
But once in a while we find a soul to share,
The pain that alone we couldn't bear,
Someone to hold through long cold nights
When survival itself is the prize of the fight.
Someone to share my hearts desires
Until I feel the heat of the funeral pyres
So now i've found someone to share my soul
And I cherish the nights together we stole
The fleeting passion and loves last true kiss
And now you're gone a part of me's amiss
I don't know what to say, what can I do?
In the meantime my heart lies in wait for you
I see the pain and hurt of the souls of this world
it's hard to have to listen as their lives unfurled
The screams of a million lives cut off in prime
The sad faces of those left behind, out of time.
Crying for the ones that they loved and lost
When the pain of living seems an impossible cost.
So I stand aside and watch the world progress
Slowly but surely becoming more of a mess
As mother nature is ever ignored and defiled
Ever stronger I hear and feel the call of the wild
They make the same mistakes throughout the ages
As a war on life itself the human race wages
Can't they realise from this nobody wins?
