Canobie Lake Park
Imagine being propelled into an old fashioned amusement park complete with a ferris wheel, carousel, and bumper cars, where people dressed up for a day at the park.  This was and still is Canobie Lake Park.  Where BGW wins in theming Canobie wins in natural beauty.  Placed on the banks of Canobie Lake the park is home to four roller coasters, three water rides, and over a dozen flat rides, enough to keep a thrill seeker busy for many hours.  Although in terms of size, rides, and popularity Six Flags New England takes those awards home in New England amusement parks.  Canobie is still close to my heart as the best traditional amusement park in the country and their staff, food, and cleanliness make a big part of that.  In no other theme park are you going to find a staff that is as nice and helpful as theirs.  The few rides that they do have are taken care of and made sure that people will always enjoy them.
2001 Updates: Added Over the Rainbow (Zamperla Samba Tower) and Ocean Trip (Crazy Bus).  The Pirate Ship and Galaxi have finally re-opened.
2002 Updates: Added StarBlaster (S&S Double Shot)
2003 Updates: Added daVinci's Dream (Swing ride), and Alpine Swing
2004 Updates: Added Wipeout

Now on to those rides:
- Yankee Cannonball
Before the Cyclone over at SFNE got that rehab it was screaming for this coaster reigned as the best in New England.  Although not standing more than 70 feet tall this coaster packs a punch as you are gently lifted out of your seat on every single hill.  I must also praise the staff again as the ride operators and attendants make sure the train is sent out fast with a full capacity, making lines go very fast.  This ride gets a 8/10 (a grade higher than last year due to the fact that it went through a very good rehab and the staff is much more comfortable having two trains on the tracks at once).
- Galaxi
Finally after being down for 2 years it is back together again.  In the winter of 1999 it was taken completely apart and rebuilt with new track.  Although the ride has the same name it is now a different color and has a different theme.  It now carries a some-what Rock 'n' Roll theme.  It is faster and smoother now so I give it a 7/10.  2 points better than last year.
- Dragon Coaster
This is the parks kiddie coaster and I must say that it is much better than most others. Don't get this confused with a family coaster because the two are very different.  A family coaster is usualy bigger, faster, and more fun so that the entire familt will enjoy.  A kiddie coaster is designed to be exciting for young thrill seekers.
- Canobie Corkscrew
This was one of the first corkscrew designs to be released from Arrow.  The layout is very very simple: turn, lift, turn, drop, turn, corkscrews, turn, station.  It is an exact replica of the Python at Busch Gardens Tampa only I find this to be a lot smoother.  This year it got a new train so the rating is a 7/10.  (But if you've ridden a ride like this before, skip it and get more rides on the Yankee Cannonball.)

Water Rides:
- Policy Pond Saw Mill Log Flume
This is one of the best log flumes in the country.  It is long with two drops and the scenery is very beautiful.  It very much resembles an old fashioned log mill.
- Timber Splash Water Coaster
These rides are green circlular water slides.  You sit in a two-person raft and drop down into the slides at the top of the station.  After going around through the slide you come out at the bottom and a ride attendant picks up your raft and places it on a conveyor belt to be used by the next person in line.  These rides are affectionetly called Wet and Wetter.  You be the judge of which one is the wettest.
- The Boston Tea Party
This is the park's newest attraction, built in 1997 it has the biggest splash on a shoot-the-chutes I've ever seen.  The layout is simple with a lift, 180 degree turn, drop, turn.  Also the water is the cleanest I've ever seen on a water ride.  Also unusual about this ride is that there is a clear plastic tunnel on the drop.  I've been told it is so screams don't disturb the houses across the lake.
