To you, our friends and loved ones, a toast:
May this season be a happy one ... rich in joy, full of laughter, warm with the promise of a wonderful New Year. Please accept our very best wishes and gratitude for the kindness and fond memories you've bestowed upon us during this past year.

And what a year it's been! Recession, career moves, questions about the future--but if you're like us, you sensed a definite turn for the better by year's end.

After 14 months as a somewhat unwilling employee of the United States Postal Service, Dave got back into the advertising game in November with a job as copywriter at the Stal-McLane agency in nearby Manchester, NH. No more getting up at 2 am to haul mountains of junk mail! Now he lolligags to work at 8 in the morning, enjoying a pleasantly sedentary existence writing bank ads and radio commercials. The extra money has done wonders, too.

Elsa, meanwhile, has been working at a torrid pace, trying to keep up with a teaching workload that became unexpectedly heavy when she stepped in to replace an instructor at New Hampshire Community Technical College. Added to her usual duties teaching French at Londonderry High School, it certainly made life more hectic. But now it is exam time; as the college class comes to an end, both of us look forward to becoming reacquainted during the winter evenings.
As for the cats? In good times or bad, they never stray far from their routine: jealously competing for the affections of their owners, stealing the odd morsel unwisely left atop the kitchen table, and sleeping whenever possible. Would that we might learn from their example.
So once again, Happy Holidays. Whether you observe any particular religious festivity at this time of year, or none at all, it never hurts to count one's blessings. Certainly, we have plenty.

Love,

Elsa & Dave
