When Dave Met Elsa - Part 2
1995: for 10 years we went our separate ways, vaguely connected by cards and letters. I went to New York; she lived in France. I moved to Holland; she entered a PhD program in Virginia. Just two casual friends, drifting apart.

Then a friend asked me to come to Detroit and be the best man at his wedding. Did I know any girls who'd like a chance to see family in Detroit? Two--and the first one cancelled. So I asked Elsa, and we saw each other for the first time in years. This time, it was ... different.
10/7/95:
Friends reacquainted.
Another dull wedding date for two perpetual singles?

One wedding leads to another--ours!

It was a modest ceremony, shared with 55 friends, 17 caterers and three loan officers from the National Bank of Detroit.
3/10/96
Elsa's first visit to Dave's place
in Amsterdam.



8/24/96
Dave returns to the U.S. and our first home in Royal Oak, MI.


1/28/97
Engagement of Dave & Elsa.
The adventure begins.
Note that the new bride is not as shy and retiring as that blushing freshman of yesteryear.
