It also gives me a chance to show how I've found the move from living in the middle of the country to life on the coast, and the latter I can safely say I prefer, not just for the fact that we've got the "Angel of the North, Millenium bridge, Baltic arts centre, the Sage music centre, a fabulous Quay-side", and the second largest floating crane in the world, that keeps popping in now and then to lift the odd oil rig up. Oh I love it, it's so much more exciting up here. Not that I have anything against Burnley, because I haven't. I was born and bred there and only left after 51 very happy years.

Well, where does one begin. I'll kick off from when I lived in Salus street, Burnley, Lancashire, and 9 years old, opposite the big chimney of Victoria hospitals boiler house. The gentleman next door played alto sax in the dance band at the Romany ballroom in Nelson, and consequently I guess I must have got the sax bug from him. Anyhow I failed my eleven plus and landed at Barden school for boys and had a great couple of years in the band there, where I played my first sax solo "Old man river". From there I passed my thirteen plus and moved on to Townley technical high school. A brilliant site for more school info is Friends Reunited. At sixteen years of age, long hair, Rolling Stones, Beatles etc were at Nelson Imp, and my group days commenced. For more Biography & muso stuff Go to Music
