Both images were created with charcoal pencils on butcher paper. Students grouped together (4-5 students per group), created sketches and then came up with their ideas to be used for the final image. The first image shows The Twin Towers being struck by a plane. The second image shows a skeletal figure next to five interantional flags. One of the students commented that the figure was Osama bin Laden and the flags represented world unity to fight terrorism.
A painted version of the second image above. By the time we reached the painting part of the project, several students were no longer enrolled in art. The student who conceived the skeletal figure remained in the group and repeated his image, using black, white, green and red tempera paint. Group member included images of The Twin Towers, broken and leaning to the side. They were supposed to create a plane striking the towers, but ran out of time. On the left side of the piece, students painted a tank and a helmut. It is pointed toward Osama bin Laden. Lost, are the images of the international flags.
