| Bonanza on short final for a short field landing | ||||||||||||||
| Advanced handling course in the Beech Bonanza. It is modeled after the ABS course, but done in my plane, not yours. It is designed for Bonanza owners or potential owners who want to explore the outer reaches of their flight envelope. We will do lots of stalls and discover why the Bonanzas drop the left wing so hard and how to handle it. We will perform some glide tests and see that the official flight manual is completely out to lunch on it's recommended glide speeds. We will fly a pattern with the cabin door open just to prove it's no big deal and wonder why it has caused pilots to crash? We will perform engine out glides to touchdown and see why if you follow the pilot's manual you probably won't make the runway. We will perform a steep spiral (ALA JFK) and demonstrate just how fast the Bonanza will accelerate to unsafe speeds and how to recover. We will perform short field take offs and wonder why the Pilot's manual stopped descriding the proper way to execute them. If done properly the Bonanza will lift off in amazingly little space! We will crank the gear down, while under the hood. Do you know how to handle a complete electrical failure, at night, in the wx? How about when the flashlight batteries fail? It happened to me once (in a Glasair TD, which is a very unstable airplane) and I'm here to talk about it. After this course you could handle that emergency too. You will come away with a more complete understanding of manuever speed and what it really means (hint- almost everybody is wrong). All of this will be done in my airplane, so those of you that want to "baby" your Bonanzas can go right ahead. This is designed to take good Bonanza Pilots and make them better! $750 at my airport or email me for a quote to come to you. If you are east of the Rocky Mountains, it will be very reasonable as I travel out west several times a year and will combine your training with one of these trips. |

| The picture above was taken as I went by a lake in Colorado at 13,000'. The turbulence was strong enough I thought my golf clubs in the back might break a side window as they bounced around! It's always an eery feeling to be near the ceiling of an airplane and see rocks going by above you! Link to Homepage. |
