The drivers installed by the device may have altered or updated the files used by the device in device manager.

Disconnect all usb devices from the system. Remove all usb listings in device manager. Coldboot to allow the device to redetect and install correctly.

Restart in command prompt mode (a dos prompt window "may" work)

Go to c:\windows\options\cabs

extract /a precopy1.cab usb*.*

extract /a driver11.cab usb*.*

From the desktop right click on the usb.inf file that was extracted. Select "install" from the menu.

Coldboot the system.

Connecting the device should work but you may still need to reinstall it once again.
