The first major decision during construction was to discard the original motors and gearbox. It is much easier to control RC servos that have been modified to spin continuously in each direction. This also slows the tank down to competition speeds.


Next, I cut away some of the chassis plastic so the servos would fit into the correct position.



Then the original track drive gears were attached to the servos,


and the servos were mounted in the chassis.
